Advisory Group Descriptions & Responsibilities

Bay Area Political Affairs Advisory Leadership (PAAL)

Develop the candidate questionnaire, conduct candidate interviews, and make TREPAC contribution recommendations to the HAR Board of Directors for Pearland city council elections. Participate in the Political Affairs Advisory Group’s interviews for state and federal elections covering Clear Lake, Pearland, Friendswood and Deer Park areas and Harris County Commissioners Court. The advisory group will mobilize members to Get Out the Realtor® Vote for the HAR recommended candidates within the Bay Area. In addition, the Bay Area PAAL is charged with TREPAC fundraising efforts in the area.

Communications Advisory Group

The Communications Advisory Group enhances the strategic efforts of the HAR Communications Department by ensuring HAR communications products and programs are responsive to member needs and promote and support the value of using a Realtor®.

Fort Bend Political Affairs Advisory Leadership (PAAL)

Develop the candidate questionnaire, conduct candidate interviews, and make TREPAC contribution recommendations to the HAR Board of Directors for Missouri City and Sugar Land city council elections and Fort Bend County Commissioners Court. Participate in the Political Affairs Advisory Group’s interviews for state and federal elections covering the Fort Bend area. The advisory group will mobilize members to Get Out the Realtor® Vote for the HAR recommended candidates within Fort Bend County. In addition, the Fort Bend PAAL is charged with TREPAC fundraising efforts in the area.

Global Advisory Group

The NAR Diamond level Global Advisory Group at HAR develops educational programs and networking business opportunities for members interested in and currently practicing international real estate. The advisory group creates and promotes the annual Global Day course, helps market the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) Institute offered each year at HAR, writes the yearly member wide global survey, and promotes both the online "agent search by language or specialty culture" tool found on HAR.com as well as the new Global Information Exchange (GIE) where global properties are listed by HAR GIE subscriber members. A quarterly global newsletter is created and distributed to those that have indicated they speak another language or specialize in another culture or have requested to receive it by contacting lori@har.com. Due to the overwhelming number of applicants to serve each year on the advisory group, it is preferred that applicants have the CIPS designation, or be enrolled in classes leading to the designation, and are active REALTORS. Below are this year’s appointed members and the 2024 honorary members who are invited to serve in a one-year advisory role to the group. Honorary members are former chairs of HAR, of the Global Advisory Group, representatives from other local association global programs in Texas, appointed Presidential Liaisons to other countries through NAR, international immigration and tax attorneys, and other global international real estate professionals.

Governmental Affairs Advisory Group

This advisory group serves as a liaison between the HAR Board of Directors and Members and local, state and federal governments. This group works closely with elected officials and governmental agencies to help promote HAR interests. This group shall maintain an awareness of all matters bearing upon the real estate industry or having impact upon the ownership of private property and suggest appropriate positions and measures.

HAR Engage

This advisory group assists with planning the association's largest annual member conference which includes educational presentations, discussions and technology demonstrations designed for both agents and brokers to help members increase their real estate knowledge, productivity, and success. It is preferred that Advisory Group members have attended several HAR Engage conferences. They are expected to attend three planning meetings, promote the event via social media, area networking meetings, and office promotions, as well as work the event for several hours over the duration of the Engage conference.

Management Central Advisory Group

Management Central is a division of HAR geared specifically towards the Real Estate Manager and Broker/Owner. Management Central offers at least two educational events a year and provides an online newsletter distributed every other month. The goal of Management Central is to provide Managers and Brokers with the latest tools to help them further their business through education and networking opportunities.

MLS Advisory Group

The MLS Advisory Group helps establish and maintain MLS policy that is in the best interest of over 48,000 HAR members. In addition to maintaining MLS policy, the MLS Advisory Group also reviews member suggestions and recommends MLS system changes and enhancements that help make all MLS subscribers more professional and efficient.

Montgomery County Political Affairs Advisory Leadership (PAAL)

Develop the candidate questionnaire, conduct candidate interviews, and make TREPAC contribution recommendations to the HAR Board of Directors for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors and Montgomery County Commissioners Court. Participate in the Political Affairs Advisory Group’s interviews for state and federal elections covering the Montgomery County area. The advisory group will mobilize members to Get Out the Realtor® Vote for the HAR recommended candidate within Montgomery County. The Montgomery County PAAL is charged with TREPAC fundraising efforts in the area.

Political Affairs Advisory Group

This advisory group serves as the political communicator for HAR. The duties of this advisory group include interviewing candidates in order to make recommendations to the HAR Board of Directors regarding endorsements and TREPAC contributions to the candidates for their campaigns. The advisory group will mobilize members by promoting voter registrations and engaging and encouraging HAR members to vote during election cycles.

Professional Development Advisory Group

The Professional Development Advisory Group is made up of members who review existing educational programs and recommend new training programs.

Risk Management Advisory Group

The Risk Management Advisory group addresses those areas in both residential and commercial real estate in which non-compliance issues present risk to our membership and to alert the membership as to their existence in an effort to resolve or minimize the risk.

Technology Advisory Group

HAR’s Technology Advisory Group assists in product development, testing, and provides ongoing feedback for new and existing products.

TREPAC Advisory Group

This advisory group shall assist in organizing, hosting, and participating in TREPAC fundraising efforts throughout HAR’s membership. Advisory Group Members serve as TREPAC liaisons giving presentations to members on the importance of investing in their industry as well as informing members of the legislative issues facing members and the real estate industry. As the representatives of HAR TREPAC, it is recommended that all Advisory Group Members be at the $250 Lone Star Statesman TREPAC investment level.

Young Professionals Network Advisory Group

As the voice and advocate for HAR’s award-winning Young Professionals Network, HAR’s YPN develops young real estate professionals through association involvement, education and commitment to the community with special emphasis on identifying and promoting opportunities to move into HAR leadership positions. The Advisory Group meets monthly and plans several events throughout the year. YPN advisory group members have used YPN as a stepping stone to leadership with many now serving on the HAR Board of Directors.

Area Networking Groups

The different Area Networking Meetings around the Greater Houston Area facilitate communication and fellowship between members, provide educational programs and promote Association activities from time to time. Each Area Networking Meeting is independently run and only promoted by HAR.
