Description:
The purpose of this committee is to strengthen public support of HISD schools, increase student achievement, and encourage parental and community involvement within the Asian community. The committee was established in the fall of 2005. The committee meets on a quarterly basis to provide feedback on important district issues, particularly those impacting the district's Asian student population.
 
How to Participate:
The Asian Advisory Committee is comprised of community leaders from local educational institutions, businesses, government,and faith-based organizations. Committee members are appointed by the HISD staff person responsible for the committee, with the consultation of committee members,if appropriate. Members of the committee are and should continue to be a good representation and in good standing with the Asian community. Members should demonstrate leadership in their area of study and have an interest in public schools and education. Committee members serve two-year terms. Terms will be renewable if it is advantageous to the working of the committee and if the member has an interest in remaining on the committee.
